The legendary prince Yamato Takeru stands in full command, a sword gripped in one hand, his robes falling in heavy, sculptural folds. A pale halo circles his head, marking his semi-divine status. Hokusai draws him with monumental simplicity: the figure fills the sheet, every line of the drapery deliberate, the face stern beneath a formal headdress. There is no background, the hero exists in blank space, as legends do. The ink work shifts from fine detail in the armor's lacing to broad, confident sweeps in the sleeves. It is heroism reduced to posture and line. The original work is an ink drawing on paper by Katsushika Hokusai, dated to the 18th-19th century. This product is a hand-painted oil-on-canvas reproduction inspired by the original work.
